Facts: The meridian where Central Standard Time is the mean solar time is at the longitude 90° west of Greenwich, and passes through Memphis, Tennessee and New Orleans, Louisiana. Central Daylight Saving Time equals Eastern Standard Time, and is the mean solar time at longitude 75° west, which passes through Cherry Hill Township, New Jersey. Which is better for Oklahoma? Why do some members of Congress want to put Oklahoma on Cherry Hill Standard Time year-round? (S. 670 and H.R. 1556.) Stop the efforts to extend daylight saving time year-round. Put Oklahoma on Central Standard Time year-round. Do not burden future generations of Oklahomans with a psychological addiction to Cherry Hill Standard Time. The Oklahoma Legislature can exempt the State from daylight saving time.
